Nigerian-Irish man, George Nkencho shot dead in Dublin
A Nigerian born Irish man in his 20s identified as George Nkencho has been allegedly killed by an Irish Police (gardaÃ) in Clonee, Co Dublin.
The incidence which happened on Wednesday was due to an altercation between Nkencho and another person in a shop in Hartstown.
“Reports were that a male, in his late twenties, armed with a knife was at the scene. Uniform, unarmed Gardaà responded to the scene and a foot chase ensued.
“The male threatened unarmed Gardaà with the knife. Members of the Armed Support Unit arrived at a scene in Manorfields Drive, Dublin 15. The Armed Support Unit were also threatened with a knife and implemented a graduated policing response where the use of less-than-lethal force options was initially administered in an effort to resolve the incident.
“The less-than-lethal use of force options were unsuccessful, and a number of shots were discharged from an official Garda firearm at approximately 12.35pm.
“The male was treated at the scene by Armed Support Unit paramedics, Dublin Fire Brigade paramedics. He was transferred to Connolly Hospital Blanchardstown, where he has pronounced dead this afternoon.
“The Garda SÃochána Ombudsman Commission have been notified of the incident and are currently in attendance at the scene. Investigations are ongoing.”
Man sentenced to Prison at Jigawa State over Facebook post against Governor Badaru

A chief magistrate court in Dutse, Jigawa State capital has sentenced one Sabi’u Ibrahim Chamo to prison for the defamation of character of the state governor, Badaru Abubakar.
Chamo who was first arrested on Christmas eve December 24 was charged to court for failure to substantiate the allegations he made on Facebook. He had alleged that the governor had duped many APC aspirants by collecting their money to give them party tickets.
During the trial, after the first information was read Chamo pleaded guilty to the charge and the court sentenced him to six months in prison, with options of payment of N20,000 fine and 20 strokes of cane to serve as a deterrent to others.

An 84-year-old woman has become the first person to be vaccinated in Austria, with the procedure broadcast online on Sunday.
An 84 year old woman Theresia Hofer from Marchfeld, received the vaccine at the Medical University of Vienna (Medizinische Universität Wien) on Sunday.
The woman who received the vaccine along with four others - including the head of the Covid ward at Vienna General Hospital, Dr. Bernhard Rössler and Bernadette Kralik, the senior nurse of the old people's home in Maria Enzersdorf in Lower Austria.
Several other volunteers also received the vaccine after the five were vaccinated.
Austrian Chancellor Sebastian Kurz (ÖVP) and Health Minister Rudolf Anschober (Greens) were also present when the vaccinations took place.
Hofer who said she had no hesitations taking the vaccine disclosed that she did so because she wanted to see her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren again.
In total, 9,750 doses of the vaccine - that was manufactured by Biontech / Pfizer - arrived in Vienna on Saturday, and the delivery took place under police guard.

Joe Clark the Principal who inspired the film "Lean On Me" starring Morgan Freeman dies at the age of 82
Principal Joe Louis Clark, the baseball bat and bullhorn-wielding principal who inspired the 1989 film “Lean on Me,” is dead.
His family said that Clark died at his Florida home on Tuesday December 29 2020 after a long battle with an unspecified illness. Joe Louis Clark was 82.
Born in Rochelle, Georgia, on May 8 1938, his family moved north to Newark New Jersey, when he was 6 years old.
After graduating from Newark Central High School, Clark received his bachelor’s degree from William Paterson College (now William Paterson University), a master’s degree from Seton Hall University, and an honorary doctorate from the U.S. Sports Academy.
He began teaching at a Paterson grade school in Essex County, N.J., before becoming principal of PS 6 Grammar School.
In one day, Clark expelled 300 students for fighting, vandalism, abusing teachers, and drug possession, and lifted the expectations of those who remained, continually challenging them to perform better.
Roaming the hallways with a bullhorn and a baseball bat, Clark’s disciplinary methods won him both admirers and critics nationwide.
Joe Clark was offered a White House policy advisor position after his success at the high school by then US President Ronald Reagan.
Morgan Freeman starred as Clark in the 1989 film “Lean on Me” which was loosely based on Clark's tenure at Eastside.
When Joe retired from Eastside in 1989, he worked as the director of Essex County Detention House, a juvenile detention center in Newark for six years.
He also served as a U.S. Army Reserve sergeant and a drill instructor.
Clark who finally retired to Gainesville is survived by his children, Joetta, Hazel and JJ, and grandchildren, Talitha, Jorell and Hazel.

Nigerian movie Star Richard Mofe Damijo and his wife Jumobi are celebrates their 20th wedding anniversary.
In a short note shared via his Instagram page on Tuesday, December 29, 2020, the actor thanked God for 20 years with his wife.
Mofe Damijo got married to his wife Jumobi in the year 2000 and they have four children, two from his previous marriage.

Deeper Life High School said they will not cover up any immoral act
Deborah Okezie, the mother of Don Davis has been on social media for some days now, calling on Nigerians to help her get justice for her son. She alleged that there is a plan to cover up her son's abuse by the school authorities and the states Ministry of Education. But the management of the Deeper Life High School in Akwa Ibom state has vowed not to cover up any immoral act perpetrated in the school concerning the alleged sexual abuse of one of its students, Don Davis Achibong.
In a video posted online on Tuesday December 29, Thelma Malaka the Education Secretary of the school, said the alleged act of sexual abuse is currently being investigated by the state government and the police. She said the school will in no way cover up any act of immorality and that it will ensure that justice prevails.
''Permit me to remind you that the office of the governor of Akwa Ibom state has taken over the investigation of the matter to ensure neutrality and a dispassionate outcome. We appreciate the concerned effort of everyone who has shown support in the investigation thus far.
We reiterate that we will be transparent and that justice will not only be served, it will be seen by all that it has been served.
Recall that we had earlier suspended the principal of the affected campus and initiated an investigation into the matter. We decided to restrain ourselves after the first update because we thought it is subjudice to comment on a matter that is currently under investigation.
However, considering the potential impact of this issue, especially on what we stand for, we are compelled to provide an early update before the final report is released by the government.
The panel has sat and we have presented staff members and students of our school who have been mentioned in this particular case all through the period of the investigation.
We have unflinching confidence in our God to resolve the issue such that at the end, the truth will ultimately prevail.
The police is also currently investigating this matter and we have been invited to share our own side of the story.

Saudi Arabia bans child marriages
The Ministry of Justice in Saudi Arabia has banned the marriage of persons under 18 years. It also set 18 years as the minimum age for marriage.
The Justice Minister and Chairman of the Supreme Judicial Council, Sheikh Walid Al-Samaani issued the new directive in a circular sent to all the courts in The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
Child marriages are commonplace in Saudi Arabia with one in seven girls marrying before the age of 18.
The Justice Ministry ruled that any teenager below the age of 18 will from now on be referred to specialised courts that will assess whether they can get married or not.
These courts' job is to study each child marriage case to confirm that the future spouse who's under 18 years old, boy or girl, will not be harmed as a result of this wedding and that this union will be of the best interest to the youngster.
This new decision follows an earlier law that was revealed in January of this year and which bans the marriage of children under 15 years old. Prior to this Saudi Arabia did not have a minimum legal age for marriage.

Nashville bomber suspect Anthony Warner pictured for the first time since Christmas day explosion
FBI forensic experts matched DNA samples of a man named Anthony Quinn Warner 63, who died in an explosion in Nashville which saw three people injured and buildings damaged on Christmas Day.
In a news conference on Sunday December 27, Police identified warner as the suspect of the bombing.
The Police also searched a home in nearby Antioch where it's believed Warmer lived.
According to CBS news, the law enforcement sources have confirmed the released photo as Warner who investigators believed died in the blast.
Jeff Pegues, Chief Justice and Home Security Correspondent for the news outlet tweeted : "CBS Has obtained a photo of Anthony Quinn Warner, the person of interest in the Nashville bombing."
"We've come to the conclusion that an individual named Anthony Warner is the bomber and he was present when the bomb went off and that he perished in the bombing," Donald Cochran, U.S. Attorney for the Middle District of Tennessee, said.
Officials said it is too early in the investigation to discuss the suspect's motives behind the explosion.
Warner's RV, which was parked on a downtown street of Nashville, exploded on Friday morning, Dec 25.
They heard music and an automated message coming from the vehicle warning of a bomb, and homes were evacuated.
